Minhah Ereb Succot

• Same as above, regular, NO TAHANUNIM.
• If Eve of Shabbat, recite Psalm 93 instead of Psalm 67.

Succot, First Day

'Arbit 1st Night Succot

• The Hazzan announces the Mitsvot for the Zemirot and the Haftarah.
• On Shabbat, the Hazzan starts with psalm 92 on page 17.
• The Hazzan starts Psalm 42 on p. 25 and choir and Kahal take over. The Hazzan repeats from "Hohili Lelokim..." to the Succot tune.
• The first half of the Kaddish is to the Succot tune and the 2nd half to a festive melody.
• Service continues as indicated in the book.
• If it is Shabbat, add Veshameru.
• After the 'Amidah, (on Shabbat add Vayekhulu Hashamayim and Me-en Sheba) then Kaddish Titkabbal, followed by Psalm 122 sung by the choir and Kahal.
• The Kaddish on p. 43 is sung to a festival tune.
• The Yigdal is sung to a special Succot melody.
• After the Service, the Congregation goes to the Succah.
• In the Succah, the Kiddush is recited with THREE berakhot.
• The En Kelohenu before the Bircat Hamazon is sung to the special Succot melody.

Shahrit 1st Day Succot

• Zemirot are started with "Tehillat" on a festive tune.
• On Shabbat we add "Ubyom Hashabbat" on page 136.
• "Amonai Melekh" is chanted on a festive tune also.
• We recite Psalm 42 & 43 in the Zemirot.
• On Shabbat we add the first verse of psalm 92.
• The 1st half of the Kaddish preceding Barekhu in the Succot melody is introduced from "Haboher Beshire." The 2nd half is in festive melody as on last night.
• Service continues as indicated in the festival book
• Dukhan by Cohanim.
• On Shabbat we do not carry the Lulab. We go straight to reciting the full Hallel.
• On weekdays, during the Hazarah, the Shammash brings to the Hazzanim their Lulabim, we recite the Berakhah for the Lulab and Sheheheyanu then the FULL Hallel with the Lulab in hand. The melodies in Hallel are Succot's. The Lulab is waved as follows:
• 1- At "Hodu Lamonai ki Tob Ki Le'Olam Hasdo."
• 2- At "Ana Amonai Hoshi'anah." (Once only).
• 3- At "Hodu Lamonai Ki Tob Ki Le'olam Hasdo" (in the Barukh Habbah section). (Twice).

• New York: After the Kaddish Titkabbal, the Parnas walks to the Tebah and if it is not Shabbat, the Hazzan announces the two Mitsvot for the two men who will be standing on each side of the Tebah with the Lulab in their hands (Sheya'amod Letsad Yemin [Semol] shel Hatebah...) The Parnas then sits on the Tebah and the Hazzan continues with Hanoten, etc ... including a special Mi Sheberakh for the new Holiday. See p. 208.
• No Mi Sheberakh by the choir since the Parnas is already on the Tebah
• The Parnas comes to the reader's desk and the Mitsvot for the Sifre Torah are announced.
• Sefer Torah 1st Day Succot
• Two Sifre Torah:
  a- Shor Oh Kheseb (On Shabbat, 7 Aliyot and on a Weekday, 5 Aliyot.)
  b- Maftir
• Recite the Kaddish after each Sefer Torah.
• At the end of Mashlim and before the Mi Sheberakh, recite Kaddish.
• While 2nd Sefer Torah is placed on the reader's desk and while the 1st one is removed, we sing "Elokim Tseba-ot."
• Recite the Kaddish after 2nd Sefer Torah and "En Ka-el Yeshurun" while the 2nd Sefer Torah is removed.
• Philadelphia: After the Haftarah, we recite Hashcabot. If Shabbat, we recite the prayers for the Government, State of Israel, and Congregation.
• Yehi Hasdekha by the next Hazzan.
• Sifre Torah are returned as usual.
• Offerings are ended with: "Veyesamehenu, HaKadosh Barukh Hu, Besimhat Hareghel...."

Mussaf 1st Day Succot

• On Weekdays:
• Mussaf is said as in the book with Lulab in hand.
• There is no Dukhan in the Mussaf. The Hazzan will say the Bircat Cohanim.
• At the end of the Mussaf, the Parnas then comes to the Tebah and the following three Mitsvot are announced:
  1- "... Sheyiftah Et Sha'are HaHekhal LeHosha'anot..."
  2- "... Sheyotsi Et Sefer Hatorah Lehosha'anot..."
  3- "... Sheyelaveh Et Sefer Hatorah Lehosha'anot..."
• Then the Hazzan and the Parnas (with the Lulab in hand) proceed to the Hekhal and the Sefer Torah is brought to the Tebah. The Sefer Torah carrier will stand with the Sefer Torah, at the middle of the Tebah, and the Hazzan to its right with the Lulab still in hand. The Sefer Torah carrier will stay at the Tebah with the Sefer Torah during the Hakafah.
• The Hosh'anot start on page 307 but the Hakafah starts with the words "Hosha'anah..." on p.308. The Hazzan first goes down, followed by the Parnas, the other Hazzanim, and then the rest of the Kahal from the Tebah to the Hekhal, turning behind the Tebah to come up the Tebah with the words "Hosha'anah" on p.309.
• The Hazzan starts with the words "Moshiya' Hosim" on p. 312 to the tune of the El Nora 'Alilah and the choir and Kahal take over.
• At "Kakatub" on p. 312 the procession goes back to the Hekhal led first by the carrier of the Sefer Torah, the Hazzan, the Parnas and the accompagnan. The Hazzan says the Kaddish Titkabbal at the Hekhal, then the Hekhal is closed.
• The Hazzan starts "Kol Yisrael" while going back to the Tebah.
• On Shabbat:
• Mussaf is said as in the book.
• There is no Dukhan.
• At the end of the Mussaf, the Parnas comes to the Tebah and the following Mitzvah is announced:
  ..."Sheyiftah Et Sha'are Hahekhal LeHosha'anot.
• Then the Hazzan, after the Hekhal is opened and from the reader's desk, starts with the words, "Hosha'annah" page 427.
• The Hazzan starts with the words, "Ba-Nu Leyahed..." to the tune of the El Nora 'Alilah and the choir and Kahal take over.
• After Kakatub (without Shubah) the Hazzan says the Kaddish Titkabbal, then the Hekhal is closed.
• After the Hekhal is closed, the Hazzan starts "Kol Yisrael."
• Either on Shabbat or on weekdays, at the end of the Service, we meet in the Succah for the Kiddush, Hamotsi, Bircat Hamazon and Bendigamos.

Minhah 1st Day Succot

• As indicated in the festival book.
• If it is Shabbat, we read from the Sefer, Vezot Haberakha.
• Psalms 42 & 43 are recited in responsive mode.

SUCCOT (2nd day)

'Arbit 2nd Night Succot

• The Hazzan announces the Mitsvot for the Zemirot and the Haftarah.
• The Hazzan starts Psalm 42 on p. 25 and choir and Kahal takes over. The Hazzan repeats from "Hohili Lelokim..." to the Succot tune.

• At "Kakatub" on p. 312 the procession goes back to the Hekhal led first by the carrier of the Sefer Torah, the Hazzan, the Parnas and the accompagnan. The Hazzan says the Kaddish Titkabbal at the Hekhal, then the Hekhal is closed.
• The Hazzan starts "Kol Yisrael" while going back to the Tebah.
• At the end of the Service, we meet in the Succah for the Kiddush, Hamotsi, Bircat Hamazon and Bendigamos.

Minhah 2nd day Succot

• As indicated in the festival book.
• Psalms 42 & 43 are recited in responsive mode.
• If it also the eve of Shabbat, we do not recite psalm 93 "Amonai Malakh."

SUCCOT SHABBAT HOL HAMO'ED

'Arbit Shel Shabbat & Hol HaMo'ed Succot

• The Hazzan announces the Mitsvot for the Zemirot and the Haftarah.
• The Hazzan starts as on regular Shabbat from "Mizmor LeDavid" except that we skip "Bame Madlikin." (Kaddish Derabbanan is said by Abel).
• The first half of the Kaddish is to the Succot tune and the 2nd half to a festive melody.
• Service continues as indicated in the book WITHOUT "Eleh Mo'ade...." Before the 'Amidah announce: Omerim Ya'aleh Veyabo.
• After the 'Amidah, Me'en Sheba', Kaddish Titkabbal, followed by Psalm 122 (Samahti) sung by the choir and Kahal.
• The festival Kaddish is sung p. 43.
• The Yigdal is sung to a special Succot melody.
• After the Service, the Congregation goes into the Succah.
• In the Succah, the Kiddush is recited with TWO berakhot: Kiddush and Lisheb Basuccah.

Shahrit Shel Shabbat & Hol HaMo'ed Succot

• Zemirot are started with "Tehillat" on a festive tune.
• "Amonai Melekh" is chanted on a festive tune also.
• We DO NOT recite Psalm 42 & 43 in the Zemirot.
• The 1st half of the Kaddish preceding Barekhu in Succot melody is introduced from "Haboher Beshire." The 2nd half is in festive melody as on last night.
• After the 'Amidah, we recite the FULL Hallel. There are NO LULABIM on Shabbat. The melodies in Hallel are festive.
• The Parnas comes to the desk and the mitsvot for the Sifre Torah are announced.
• Sefer Torah Shel Shabbat & Hol HaMo'ed Succot:
• Two Sifre Torah:
  a- Re-eh Attah (Ki Tissa)
  b- Maftir
• Recite the Kaddish after each Sefer Torah.
• At the end of Mashlim and before the Mi Sheberakh, recite Kaddish.
• While 2nd Sefer Torah is placed on the reader's desk and while the 1st one is removed, we sing "Elokim Tseba-ot."
• Recite the Kaddish after 2nd Sefer Torah and "En Ka-el Yeshurun" while the 2nd Sefer Torah is removed.
• The Berakhot AFTER the Haftarah are those for YOM TOB.
• Yehi Hasdekha by the next Hazzan.
• Sifre Torah are returned as usual.
• Offerings are ended with: "Veyesamehenu, HaKadosh Barukh Hu, Besimhat Hareghel...."

Mussaf Shel Shabbat & Hol HaMo'ed Succot

• After the Kaddish we recite the Mussaf of Yom Tob without the word "TOB" in p. 289.
• At the end of the Mussaf, the Parnas DOES NOT come to the Tebah and NO Mitsvot are given out. The Sefer Torah is not taken out of the Hekhal. There is NO Hakafah. However the Hekhal is opened by the one who had this Mitsvah after Shahrit. The Hekhal remains open for the duration of the Hosha'anot.
• Then the Hazzan, remaining on the Tebah starts the Hosha'anot with the words "Hosha'anah..." on p.427.
• The Hazzan starts with the words "Banu Leyahed..." on p. 431 to the tune of the El Nora 'Alilah and the choir and Kahal take over.
• After "Kakatub" on p. 432 (without Shubah) the Hazzan says the Kaddish Titkabbal, then the Hekhal is closed.
• The Hazzan starts "Kol Yisrael" as on every Shabbat.
• The melodies of En Kelohenu and Adon Olam are like those in the Hallel.
• At the end of the Service, we meet in the Succah for the Kiddush, Hamotsi, Bircat Hamazon and Bendigamos.

Minhah Shabbat & Hol HaMo'ed Succot

• As indicated in the book
• Sefer Torah reading: Vezot Haberakhah.
• After Kaddish Titkabbal we say "Halleluyiah, Odeh Amonai"
• No Hashcabot, No Tsidkatekha.
• Read as on regular Shabbat.
• At the end of Service, No Pesukim.

'Arbit Motsa-e Shabbat Hol HaMo'ed Succot

• Start from "Utshu'at..."
• Before the 'Amidah announce:"Omerim Atah Honantanu VeYa'aleh Veyaboh."
• After the 'Amidah, recite Yehi Shem, Kaddish Le'ela, "Orekh Yamim Asbi'enu Ve-ar-ehu Bishu'ati", "Veatah Kaddosh...", and Kaddish Titkabbal.
• After the Kaddish Titkabbal, the Habdalah is then recited starting from Sabri Maranan over Yayyin, Besamim and Or.
• After the Habdalah, Samahti, Kaddish and 'Alenu.
• If there is an Abel, recite some Pesukim to enable him to recite the Kaddish.

SUCCOT HOL HAMO'ED

Shahrit Hol HaMo'ed Succot

• Service starts at 7:30 A.M. (No Tefillin).
• Zemirot are usually read by a Yahid.
• Zemirot are started with Tehillat in festive melody.
• Amonai Melekh is in festive Melody also.
• The Hazzan reads ALL Kaddishim except the first one, the Kaddish Derabanan.
• The Shirat Hayam is sung in a somewhat faster pace.
• The 'Amidah is read with the Ya'aleh Veyaboh.
• After the Hazarah, the Berakhah for the Lulab is said and the FULL hallel is read. The Melodies are festive.
• After Hallel, Kaddish Titkabbal.
• Sefer Torah Hol HaMo'ed Succot
• Yehi Amonai 'Imanu, Barukh Hamakom, etc..., as on p. 382.
• One Sefer Torah, from Pinehas, follow instruction in book:
  1- Cohen: the 1st three pesukim.
  2- Levi: the last three pesukim.
  3- 3rd: the section of the Levi.
  4- 4th: the whole Keri-ah.
• After the Torah reading, Kaddish, Ashre, and Uba LeTsion.
• The Sefer Torah is then returned with Yehallelu followed by Kaddish Le'ela.

Mussaf Hol HaMo'ed Succot

• Start Regular Mussaf, with Lulab in hand, as on p. 393. After Keddushah, go to p. 287 for the rest of Mussaf of Yom Tob and OMIT the word TOB.
• Immediately after the Mussaf, the Hekhal doors are opened, the Hazzan goes down to the Hekhal, the Sefer Torah is brought to the Tebah and the Hazzan starts from page 395 for the 3rd day of Succot, page 400 for 4th day of Succot, page 403 for 5th day of Succot, page 407 for the 6th day of Succot and follows the same pattern as on Yom Tob.
• NOTE: THE HOSHA'ANOT DAYS AS LISTED IN THE BOOK ARE THE ORDINAL NUMBER OF THE DAYS OF THE WHOLE SUCCOT HOLIDAY.
• After the return of the Sefer Torah, the Hazzan reads the Kaddish Titkabbal in FRONT OF THE HEKHAL.
• The Hazzan then starts "Lamnatseyah" and returns to the Tebah.
• Then Kaddish, followed by "Kaveh...," then En Kelohenu, sung to a festive melody.
• Adon 'Olam in festive melody. If Abel, then Pesukim.
• Breakfast in the Succah.

Minhah Hol HaMo'ed Succot

• No Pitum Haketoret. Sing Tehillat in Ashre.
• Add Ya'aleh Veyabo in the 'Amidah.
• After the Kaddish Titkabbal say "Shofteni," Psalm 43.
• Hazzan says all Kaddishim.

'Arbit Hol HaMo'ed Succot

• Start from "Utshu'at...."
• Announce before the 'Amidah: "Omerim Ya'aleh Veyaboh."
• Instead of Shir Lama'alot we say Samahti.
• Hazzan says all Kaddishim
• If Abel is present, say Pesukim for Kaddish.
