Provenance A pioneer in Ophthamology, most notably at Wills Eye Hospital, and a founder of the American Medical Association (AMA), Isaac Hayes wrote the first Code of Ethic for the AMA. He was also an ornithologist, prolific author, and editor. Hays' obituary was written by Dr. Samuel Gross who was immortalizes in Thomas Eakins' well known painting, 'The Gross Clinc'. Hays was the son of Richea Gratz Hays (1774-1858), daughter of Michael and Miriam Gratz. Isaac Minis Hays (1847-1925) was a son of Isaac Hays.
