Congregation Mikveh Israel, "The Hope of Israel," was founded in 1740 and is an unparalleled American Jewish Institution. It has a two-fold tradition that is the synthesis of the Spanish-Portuguese Jewish ritual and the ongoing development of the American Jewish community.

Help Restore the Cemetery of the American Revolution
On July 11, 2026, following a hurricane warning, severe storms caused significant damage to the historic National Shrine known as the Cemetery of Congregation Mikveh Israel, located at 8th and Spruce Streets in Philadelphia. This sacred burial ground, is the final resting place of many of America's earliest Jewish patriots, including Haym Salomon (1740–1785).
As our nation marks the 250th anniversary of the United States, we ask for your help in restoring this irreplaceable historic site. Your generosity will allow us to repair damaged tombstones, replant trees, and preserve the dignity of those whose courage and sacrifice helped secure American independence. These Jewish patriots stood alongside General George Washington and the founders of our nation in the fight for liberty.
