Sneak Peak: Haym Salomon

Haym Salomon, a founding member of Congregation Mikveh Israel, was a Polish-born Jewish immigrant and financier who played a crucial role in supporting the American Revolution. After arriving in New York, Salomon became involved with the Patriot cause, assisting revolutionary efforts and later helping secure vital funds for the Continental Army and the struggling new American government. Working closely with figures such as George Washington and Robert Morris, he brokered loans, raised money from international sources, and personally extended credit to American leaders during the war. Remembered as one of the most prominent Jewish patriots of the Revolutionary era, Salomon’s story reflects the important contributions of the Jewish community to the founding of the United States.
